Product Details

What are the advantages of LED retrofit kits?

Our LED retrofit kits have been designed to be easy to install and offer cost-saving performance. They have a cooler operating temperature which gives the units a longer lifespan and reduced energy consumption.

Why are Optilumen’s products better than LED tubes?

In lighting solutions, heat has always been the biggest enemy of longevity and efficiency. The internal air temp of Optilumen’s retrofitted fixture is 30 degrees cooler, on average, than LED tubes. The rated lifespans on our retrofitted LEDs are 4 times longer, on average, than LED tubes.

Simply put, we make a product that lasts 4x longer, installs quicker, and uses less energy than the LED tubes.

What does linear mean?

A linear lamp is one that uses a single tube of various lengths. These include the most popular fluorescent T8 style lamps.

If my driver/kit isn’t working, is it covered under warranty?

In most situations our product is warrantied. Please have the purchase order and a close-up picture of the product’s label handy so one of our reps can assist you.

My fixture does not have a lens. Is there a cover available for our strips?

Yes, Optilumen offers clear and frosted lens covers for our strips. Part #s:
LNS-2F 2′ frosted lens
LNS-2C 2′ clear lens
LNS-4F 4′ frosted lens
LNS-4C 4′ frosted lens

Is my retrofit kit dimmable?

Our standard kit does not come with phase dimming built in. We offer 0-10v and triac dimming options but must be purchased that way.

Where can I buy your retrofit kits?

We are carried at distributors across the nation. Please let us know where you’re located and we will direct you to the closest location. If we do not have any distribution set up near you, we can work with any electrical distributor and select retailers in your region.

Why do your lumens seem so low compared to the LED tubes you’re replacing?

Our LED strips are tested differently. LED tubes are tested in a sphere where every lumen in every direction in 360° around the lamp is measured. Our kits are tested in situation (inside a troffer with a prismatic lens) and you are getting a delivered lumen result. Our 5459 lumen RKT2418 kit outperformed 4x 1800 lumen LED tubes (7200 total lumens).

Do you make an 8-foot strip?

No, but we can retrofit an 8-foot fixture easily with two of our strips. These can be cut for other lengths as well.

What’s the difference between RKT and RKS?

Our RKT is a premium version of our retrofit offering slightly higher performance, components, and extended 10-year warranty. Our RKS series uses the same methods, but with an economy structure of the build that reduces costs. Covered by a 7-year warranty.

What’s the difference between RKS and RKL?

The RKS and RKL are built with the same core components and will operate the same side by side. The difference is in the listing and testing of these builds. The RKS is considered a linear retrofit, and the RKL is considered a linear ambient.

Do you offer an emergency backup unit?

Yes, we offer an 8w and 16w unit to pair with our kits to give the required light for 90+ min after a power failure.

What does DLC mean?

DLC stands for Design Lights Consortium, a database of eligible lighting products that energy companies use to qualify user rebates.

What type of dimmers do you recommend for your kits?

Our drivers are made to the specific requirements of the industry standard. Any manufacturer complying with the specification should work. Note: 0-10V Commercial dimmers and TRIAC forward phase dimming are the technologies we offer.

Our Process and Policies

What does your warranty cover?

Warranties are product specific in duration and cover replacement for defective product.

How does Optilumen report lumen production on its data?

Optilumen reports the testing results from DLC’s website. Our test results are done in situation, instead of raw lumens that LED tubes use to represent their numbers.

Does Optilumen have a minimum order amount?

Qualified account holders enjoy no minimum order, and qualify for freight allowed on orders of $1500 or more.

Does Optilumen offer direct sales to consumers?

Optilumen relies on our network of retailers, wholesale suppliers, and large scale contractors to service these end users. Contact us today so we can find one near you!

How can I make a claim?

Contact us and request a claim form to be filled out for quick response product replacement for qualified claims.
